Self-Handicapping Behavior in the Workplace

What is self-handicapping behavior? Self-handicapping is a common behavior that hasn’t received much attention in the professional business literature. Self-handicapping is frequent, hidden, subtle, and difficult to see and often denied by individuals and organizations. Consequently, many employees disengage and end up quitting or being terminated which contributes to turnover, poor customer satisfaction, productivity, and profitably problems.

Unfortunately, many employers lack the expertise or skillset and find themselves ill-equipped to deal with these behaviors. Are you or your employees self-handicapping? • Main Entrée: Chicken Teriyaki - breast of chicken marinated in soy, sherry and pineapple
• Vegetarian Option: Portabella- Portabella mushroom stuffed with spinach, zucchini & squash, topped with mozzarella cheese and tomato
