    Speaker: Patrick Hoban, CecF, EDFP, President/CEO, Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council


    About the presentation:  

    Patrick Hoban will provide an insightful presentation on the current economic landscape and workforce challenges in Bloomington-Normal. With over 15 years of experience in various economic development positions, Patrick will share his expertise on key issues affecting employers in the region. The presentation will cover the cost of living in Bloomington-Normal, the challenges employers face in finding employees, and the impact of inflation on the available workforce. Additionally, Patrick will discuss critical factors such as the cost of childcare and available housing that influence the local job market.

    By the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

    1. Understand the Economic Landscape: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the cost of living in Bloomington-Normal and its impact on the local workforce.
    2. Identify Workforce Challenges: Recognize the key challenges employers face in finding and retaining employees, including the role of childcare costs and housing availability.
    3. Assess the Impact of Inflation: Evaluate the effects of inflation on the workforce and develop strategies to mitigate its impact on their organizations.
    4. Develop Actionable Strategies: Formulate practical solutions to address workforce challenges and enhance employee retention and satisfaction.

    Re-certification Credits: 1-hour general HRCI and 1 SHRM professional development credit (PDC) will be shared with attendees after the meeting. 

        


    Anyone can attend in place of an active BNHRC member. Guests are also welcomed to attend. The guest fee is $15 and must be paid by the registration deadline.
